The Reef Education Centre has been transformed into a world class learning facility with educational wall graphics and fact sheets as well as ‘touch and feel’ display boxes for coral and shells. It features informative displays about the dive and snorkel sites around the Island and the marine creatures guests will find while snorkelling and diving. The Reef Education Centre is available for use by School, University and Research groups.

Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort secured a grant in the 2011 round of the T-QUAL Grants — Tourism Quality Projects to upgrade the Reef Education Centre including wall graphics, fact sheets, orientation video, underwater website and adventure trails. The Reef Education Centre upgrade project was co-funded by the Australian Government under T-QUAL Grants. The T-QUAL Grant Scheme is a competitive merit-based grants program aimed at stimulating sustainable economic growth in the Australian tourism industry. By providing matched funding to large and small-scale tourism projects, the program aims to increase Australia's supply of quality tourism products and experiences.
