Season's Greetings and Happy New Year!

On behlaf of Peter Gash and the Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort team, we would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Thank you for your support during 2016! We hope you have a magical break over the Christmas Period and we look forward to celebrating Christmas Day with everyone on the Island. We hope to see you on our Island paradise in the New Year.

In-Flight App

Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort has been working on an exciting and innovative new project which has been designed to boost our guests in-flight experience.

We are very happy to release our In-Flight App which has been developed for Apple and Android users. The ‘Lady Elliot Island’ App has two main features, the ‘Flight Tracker’ and ‘Island Map’.

The Flight Tracker uses GPS to track and show your exact location whilst flying up the East Queensland coast of Australia to Lady Elliot Island. With over 50 Points of Interests along the flight, guests can learn more about the region they are flying over with information on popular locations; theme parks; and places to stay, eat and explore!

As flights to Lady Elliot Island depart from several different locations (Gold Coast, Brisbane, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg and Agnes Water/1770) our goal is to promote each region and help our guests get the best experience out of their stay in Queensland.

You can use the App to plan your stay on Lady Elliot Island with weather, tides and island maps available.

The App is available in five languages-English, Chinese, Japanese, German and French.

To download the In-Flight App, search ‘Lady Elliot Island’ on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store for Android.

First Turtle Nest of the Season

We are very excited to announce that we had our first turtle nest of the season on Lady Elliot Island on the 13th November.  A female Green Turtle came up to nest and stayed ashore until morning, giving our guests an amazing opportunity to see her in the daylight.

Our Activities Team were fortunate enough to have Jim Buck, our Turtle expert on the Island at the time and were able to tag the female turtle before she returned to the water.

Based on the incubation period of approximately 8 weeks, we are hoping to welcome in the New Year with a batch of turtle hatchlings!

After this first turtle paved the way we have had 474 counted turtle tracks and 31 confirmed nests recorded in the last 5 weeks.

Welcome to our Feathered Babies

Bird nesting season is in full swing this year with chicks hatching all around the resort. This is a picture of a Bridled Tern Chick that hatched right out front of Reception.

Keep your eyes out for these adorable fluff balls whilst you are walking around the Island, they never stray too far from their mothers!
