It's whale season on Lady Elliot Island No images? Click here It's Whale Season on the Great Barrier Reef! Between June and October, Lady Elliot Island comes alive with the spectacular acrobatic displays of the majestic humpback whales. These charismatic animals migrate north, over 5,000km to the tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef after a summer of feeding on krill in Antarctic waters. Their journey attracts thousands of visitors who watch in awe as the whales breach, roll their gigantic bodies, and slap their fins and tails on the waters surface. Regular sightings occur on our scenic flights, from the glass bottom boat, whilst snorkelling or diving and from the Island's beaches. Almost daily during the season, whale songs can be heard under the water while swimming, snorkelling and diving around Lady Elliot Island. Whale season has come just in time for borders re-opening on the 10 July 2020 to QLD, NSW, ACT, WA and SA. Please be aware that the Resort is fully booked for the month of July and we have very limited availability for the month of August. We kindly request that you view our availability calendar to check if your requested dates are available before contacting our Reservations Team.
